Samuele Giannini received his Bachelor Degree in Chemistry in October 2014 and his Master Degree in Physical Chemistry in September 2016 working in the group of Prof. Benedetta Mennucci at the University of Pisa. His research focused on the study of excitation energy transfer processes both in biological light harvesting systems and small donor-bridge-acceptor molecules.
In October 2016, he moved to London, where he joined the group of Prof. Jochen Blumberger at the University College London (UCL) as a PhD student. His PhD work, supported by the European Research Council (ERC) under the Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, focussed on modelling electronic transport processes in nano-scale organic semiconductors. He investigated interesting quantum localization-delocalization phenomena occurring in these materials and, in December 2020, he was awarded his doctoral degree. He then carried out a short Postdoctoral stay at UCL.
Since March 2021, he is a Postdoctoral researcher at the University of Mons – Laboratory for Chemistry of Novel Materials (CMN) under the direction of Prof. David Beljonne.
