Mohamed Khoutoul is interested in molecular modeling of bio-inspired systems. He received his B.S (Chemical Sciences) and M.S degree in Applied Chemistry from University Mohammed 1st in Morocco. He then completed his PhD in Organic, Physical and Theoretical Chemistry at the same University in 2017. His main work was centered on experimental and theoretical analysis of heterocyclic derivatives to detect and extract metallic ions.

Prior to his postdoctoral research, he worked as a substitute professor, teaching Organic, Physical and Theoretical Chemistry at Faculty of Sciences-Oujda and Polydisciplinary Faculty of Nador (Morocco).

Since April 2022, Mohamed joined the Laboratory for Chemistry of Novel Materials (CMN) at the University of Mons as postdoctoral researcher under the direction of Prof. Mathieu Surin. His main research topics deal with the study of the Higher-Order Structure of Oligonucleotide Therapeutics (HOS-ONT) by using molecular modeling techniques.
