Nityasagar JENA conducted his doctoral research at the Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST), Mohali (Punjab), an autonomous institution of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. His doctoral research was devoted to study the layered 2D semiconducting materials with a particular focus on Group-VI(B) transition-metal dichalcogenides (MX2-TMDCs) and their structural Janus derivatives (MXY) for next-generation electronics and energy harvesting applications. He obtained his doctorate in 2020 from the prestigious Indian Institute of Scientific Education and Research (IISER), Mohali. He then joined the Laboratory for Chemistry of Novel Materials (CMN), UMONS as a F.N.R.S. fellow to carry out research activities within the framework of the OPERA FLAG-ERA project “Nanographene for quantum technologies,” under the direction of Professor David Beljonne.

His broad research interests comprise the atomistic investigation of electronic, optical, and thermal transport properties of different condensed matter systems based on first-principles calculations.
